The guy, the van, and the map

How it started

I'm Caleb. I live in Los Cabos, and for almost two years I've spent my free days exploring Baja California Sur: the Pacific beaches past Todos Santos, the hot springs and waterfall pools up in the Sierra, the reefs of the East Cape, and the long drive up to La Paz.

I kept a spreadsheet the whole time. Every beach, hike, hot spring, taco stand and quiet camp spot went in it, with notes on how to get there and what it's actually like. It's close to a hundred places now, and it's the map I hand to every guest.

Meet Vanterella

Vanterella is a 1995 GMC Rally with an extended body, and she's been my home on the road. When I got her the roof had no insulation and the headliner was falling apart. I stripped it, insulated the ceiling, built magnetic shades that don't peel off in the heat, and set her up with solar power and Starlink so she works as well at a remote beach as she does in town.

She isn't a new van from a fleet. She's a classic, rebuilt by hand, with a story in every panel.

Why rent from me

Most rentals hand you keys and a contract. I hand you the keys, my map, and my number. Before your trip we plan the route together. While you're out there, you can message me when you want to know which road to take, where to eat, or where to watch the sunset.

That's the whole idea: Baja the way a local lives it.
